Turkey Chili

This recipe is medium hot, you can add more chili pepper flakes if you like it hotter, or less if you like it mild.
The ingredients are very flexible. You can use a different kind of bean, or a mixture, or less beans. You can add more peppers, or corn, etc.

Ingredients:

1 onion, chopped
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 lb ground turkey
1 red pepper, chopped
1 yellow pepper, chopped
1 (800 gram) can crushed tomatoes
3/4 T. chili pepper flakes
3/4 T. cumin
1 T. dried basil
1 T. dried oregano
salt and pepper to taste
3 cups cooked black beans (or substitute canned, and add less salt)

Garnish:
chopped cilantro
cubed avocado

Directions:

Saute the onion and garlic in olive oil. Add the turkey and cook until browned.
Add the remaining ingredients except beans. Simmer for ten minutes, then add the beans and simmer for an additional 10 min.
Serve in bowls and top with the garnishes.

Enjoy!
